
The Balsam
Center for Hope and Recovery is dedicated to providing treatment
and support for individuals experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms
or problems with substance abuse in an environment which acknowledges
each individual’s strengths, affirms each person’s potential
for recovery, promotes personal responsibility and independence,
encourages participation of family and informal supports, and provides
opportunities for employment and service to others.
What is the Balsam Center for Hope and Recovery?
The Balsam Center for Hope and Recovery is a Center where individuals
can come who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, or substance
abuse problems that have built to a crisis level. Services and supports
at The Balsam Center include: a toll free 800 line, assessment services
that can determine placement needs for an individual in crisis,
an adult recovery unit, a youth recovery unit, peer support and
help with an individual’s transition back to their home.
The Balsam Center for Hope and Recovery serves individuals in the
region who are experiencing:

The Balsam Center for Hope and Recovery is committed to ensuring
the highest quality of service through the efforts of experienced
staff including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, licensed clinical
social workers, specially trained habilitation technicians and peer
support specialists. The Balsam Center Team embraces the Recovery
philosophy in all aspects of Center operation. Recovery focuses
on hope, symptom management through non-medical methods, collaboration
between consumers and health care professionals, wellness and consumer
empowerment.

Help is just a phone call away. The Balsam Center is a funded through
Smoky Mountain Center. If you live in Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Jackson,
Macon, or Swain County we can help you get the support you and your
family need. You may call a Care Manager at your local Smoky Mountain
Center Office to get more information or to get support during an
emergency, or call The Balsam Center for Hope and Recovery any time,
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
